Each animal we encounter is treated according to its individual needs. They are given a health check and treated for parasites, i.e. fleas, ticks and worms.
Parasites have a detrimental effect on the health of the host animal, especially for the young. Parasites can also cause further complications through the transmission of illnesses such as tick-borne disease (Ehrlichia).
Each trip sees two teams of experienced volunteers spending each day walking the streets of the Medina looking for and treating the animals that live there, including around 200 kittens per trip.
